|
Support of the West Somerset Railway for the Development Plans at Bishops Lydeard Station Farm. Planning Applications 06/2007/027, 028, 042, 043 and 044
To allow the effect of the proposed Museum and Carriage Display Shed to be properly judged, the following photographs have been assembled with appropriate additions to show the position and size of the new buildings.
Thanks are due to the Bishops Lydeard Residents Group for photos 4 and 5. The others are © of the WSR or its members.
The Photographs run north to south along Platform 2 at Bishop’s Lydeard. That is the long, eastern platform which virtually all West Somerset Railway Services use.

Photo 1 View from road overbridge with Museum and Carriage Display Building added in white skeleton

Photo 2 View from Northern (Minehead) end of platform. Museum and Carriage Display Building not visible from this position.

Photo 3 View from opposite northern end of Goods Shed.
Carriage Display Building only visible as red hatched and arrowed.

Photo 4 View between end of Goods shed siding and Station House.
(thanks for this photo are due to BL Residents Group)
Note:
This is view NOT available to substantial majority of WSR visitors as it is blocked by normal standing position of trains using Bishops Lydeard station (see end of train in next photo south – Photo 5)

Photo 5 View looking north-west from just north of water tower
(thanks for this photo are due to BL Residents Group)
Notes:
(1) This view is NOT part of station heritage in that the platform south of signal box was constructed in 1996 by present company.
(2) Tree line is visible over buildings, in particular the Oak (retained in scheme)

Photo 6 View south-west from approximately the same position as Photo 5.
Notes:
(1) View south & west unobstructed by any proposals.
(2) The line of Blackdown Hills to south is clearly visible

Photo 7 View north-west from southern end of platform (from approximate position of crowd in Photo 6). The Carriage Display Building is shown hatched and arrowed.
Note: This is the view valued by the vast majority of visitors to the southern end of the platform. The small effect of the Carriage Display Building is plain.
